Ripples by the bay - Bays Precinct Masterplan
Existing > Connecting > Stitching
Phase 1 (Year 2015 - 2020) EXISTING
Existing buildings (Fish Market, Exhibition Centre and Cruise Terminal) are operating as they are. Extending working hours to fish market and contruction of temporary structure on the Rail yard. Lease on some business such as Borol concrete will still be continuing as start-up budget. The back spine light rail will be constructed from Rail yard to White Bay Cruise Terminal. Introduce ferry stops at White Bay and Rozelle, improve wharf at Sydney Fish Market for ferry stop.
Phase 2 (Year 2021 - 2030) CONNECTING
Extending the ferry routes around the Bay precincts. Introducing the new line of light rail extending to White Bay and around Glebe Island. Provide direct access to Sydney CBD via Old Glebe bridge to accommodate existing and integrate with the concept of ‘Historic Arc’. Provide pedestrian links along the promenade of existing buildings/ programs and new buildings. Integrating with studies of city organisations - street organisation, topography, views, water edge and existing public realm. These elements become the connecting points between building blocks. The 3rd space or the void areas between any two buildings are what directing us in establishing the diversity of the programs between local residents, Sydneysiders and tourists.
Phase 3 (Year 2031 - 2040) STITCHING
Existing buildings have been re-established and transformed to a new dimension by stitching new development with existing programs. The greater economy, cultural and social roles to the city and provide a vibrant new harbour frontage and public access to the foreshore.
